“Proton Exora”,the fully home-grown 7-seater MPV was proudly presented by Proton Holdings Berhad at Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia recently.Attended by Malaysia's Prime Minister of -Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, Former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed and Chairman of PROTON Holdings Berhad,Dato’ Mohd Nadzmi, the launch marks the first of it's kind in Malaysia automobile history .
The Exora MPV features a Lotus-tuned 1.6 litre CamPro CPS engine with 4-speed automatic transmission,incorporating two ingenious technologies namely, Cam Profile Switching (CPS) and Variable Intake Manifold technology (VIM) to produce high power output and rapid response, whilst maintaining fuel efficiency.Safety features includes an extremely strong passenger cell and computer-aided designed crash structure that surpassed Euro-Ncap 4 Star safety rating requirements with twin front seat airbags and front seat-belt pretensioners, Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and Electronic brake-force distribution (EBD). Interior comfortability and design has been enhanced by improved sound-proofing technology with six different seat folding configurations to provide storage flexibility for large luggage, while the single-lever seat folding mechanism allows the second row seats to be tumbled to provide a wider opening for passengers to hop on to the third row seats. Exora Medium-line comes with an uncluttered and clean grey interior with fabric seats, while the High-line comes with leather and alcantra.Another important features inhibited in Exora, that usually found in more European cars, is the incorporation of an electronic device called the Body Control Module (BCM) which offer over 20 different functions, from ‘follow me home lights’ to programmable door locking configurations.Exora comes in 6 six variant colours, namely, Genetic Silver, Tranquility Black, Haze Blue, Solid White, Gaia Blur and Pyrite Brown, the Exora Medium-Line is priced at RM69,998 and the High-Line (AT) is priced at RM75,998 (on-the-road)
Proton Holdings Berhad Managing Director, Dato’ Haji Syed Zainal Abidin said their sales target for this year is about 30,000 units and have already received 2500 book orders even before the MPV been launched .
