Guardian Raised RM10,000 in It's Annual Charity Walkathon



Guardian a renowned leading health,beauty and personal care chain in Malaysia has again organised it's annual charity walkathon to generate awareness and raise charity funds for the National Stroke Association of Malaysia (NASAM) at Sunway Lagoon Theme Park recently. In this season an amount of RM10,000 has been raised ,bringing Guardian's total contribution to NASAM amounted to more than RM60,000 over a period of five years.

Representative from NASAM,Ms Tracy Cham and Guardian's General Manager of Pharmacy Practice Wan Hwei Yen were present to flag off the 3km walk beside the Sunway Lagoon's Auditorium at 9am.The eager participants came as early as 7am to register warmed up with a morning enrgizer work out by Caltrate before the race.More than 1500 particpants completed the walk with 30 NASAM strokees who finished a special route tailored to ensure that they too can be part of the event.

During the prize presentation at the Sunway's auditorium participants were also given the opportunity to indulge themselves with fun-filling activities at the promotional booths sponsored by well-known brands like Adidas,BioEssence,Ebene,Caltrate,Novatis, Loreal, Kawai,Kordels,Lifebuoy,Nivea,Omron,Panadol,Tiger Balm and Smith & Nephew.This promotional booths will be available till 3rd May at the Lagoon Water and Amusement Park.

Carmaker Proton Launched Malaysia's First MPV-Proton Exora


“Proton Exora”,the fully home-grown 7-seater MPV was proudly presented by Proton Holdings Berhad at Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia recently.Attended by Malaysia's Prime Minister of -Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, Former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed and Chairman of PROTON Holdings Berhad,Dato’ Mohd Nadzmi, the launch marks the first of it's kind in Malaysia automobile history .

The Exora MPV features a Lotus-tuned 1.6 litre CamPro CPS engine with 4-speed automatic transmission,incorporating two ingenious technologies namely, Cam Profile Switching (CPS) and Variable Intake Manifold technology (VIM) to produce high power output and rapid response, whilst maintaining fuel efficiency.Safety features includes an extremely strong passenger cell and computer-aided designed crash structure that surpassed Euro-Ncap 4 Star safety rating requirements with twin front seat airbags and front seat-belt pretensioners, Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and Electronic brake-force distribution (EBD). Interior comfortability and design has been enhanced by improved sound-proofing technology with six different seat folding configurations to provide storage flexibility for large luggage, while the single-lever seat folding mechanism allows the second row seats to be tumbled to provide a wider opening for passengers to hop on to the third row seats. Exora Medium-line comes with an uncluttered and clean grey interior with fabric seats, while the High-line comes with leather and alcantra.Another important features inhibited in Exora, that usually found in more European cars, is the incorporation of an electronic device called the Body Control Module (BCM) which offer over 20 different functions, from ‘follow me home lights’ to programmable door locking configurations.Exora comes in 6 six variant colours, namely, Genetic Silver, Tranquility Black, Haze Blue, Solid White, Gaia Blur and Pyrite Brown, the Exora Medium-Line is priced at RM69,998 and the High-Line (AT) is priced at RM75,998 (on-the-road)

Proton Holdings Berhad Managing Director, Dato’ Haji Syed Zainal Abidin said their sales target for this year is about 30,000 units and have already received 2500 book orders even before the MPV been launched .

Loyal Shoppers of Pavillion KL were Showered with Over RM300,000 worth of Rewards

Malaysian Dietitians Association & MASO Jointly Launched Nutrition Month Malaysia 2009


Nutrition Society of Malaysia, Malaysian Dietitians’ Association and Malaysian Association for the Study of Obesity (MASO), have joined hands together to launch Nutrition Month Malaysia 2009 at Mid Valley Valley Exhibition Centre, Hall 3 recently.The healthy campaign is aimed to promote greater awareness, practice of healthy eating to attain nutritional well-being as well as to reach out to parents to ensure they are aware of the importance of childhood nutrition in formative years.

Present to officiate the launch was YBhg Toh Puan Dato’ Seri Hajah Dr. Aishah Ong, Chairman of the Malaysian Health Promotion Board together with Dr. Tee E Siong, Chairman of Nutrition Month Malaysia Steering Committee Prof. Dr. Mohd Ismail Noor, President of Malaysian Association for the Study of Obesity, Mr. Mansor Fenner, Senior Manager of Malaysian Health Promotion Board and Ms Tan Yoke Hwa, President of Malaysian Dietitians’ Association.

Speaking at the press launch,YBhg Dato' Dr Aishah, said,Our goal is to encourage all Malaysians to practice healthy eating habits and enjoy an active lifestyle to attain nutritional wellbeing and reduce the risk of nutrition related problems through NMM.This year’s theme “Healthy Children, Healthier Nation”, will provide parents to be equipped with basic nutritional knowledge and guidelines on how to nourish their young ones with a nutritious head-start during the formative years from 1 to 6 years old.

Credit Guarantee Corporation and Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Sign Portfolio Gaurantee Agreement


Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC) and Standard Chartered Bank Malaysian Berhad (Standard Chartered) has recently entered into a partnership agreement that would enable SCB to extend financial assistance to SMEs via the Portfolio Guarantee.First of its kind, the Portfolio Guarantee Agreement to be signed in the financial industry would enable SMEs not only to enjoy a new avenue to gain access to financing but also improved turnaround time in terms of approval and disbursement of loans.

Speaking to the media at the signing ceremony,CGC's Managing Director Datuk Wan Azhar Wan Ahmad said:"Through this arrangement designed for Standard Chartered's SMEs loans we hope to deliver speedier application processing time as the customers eligible for this portfolio guarantee are pre-selelcted based on certain criteria."

Mr. Julian Wynter,Managing Director and CEO of Standard Chartered Malaysia,"SMEs will be the engine of any global economic recovery.Yet,worldwide they are struggling to survive as flight away from risk affects credit flows.It is critical that governments,banks and public agencies,collaborate to avert consistent and wide-scale failure of this sector.

Through the Portfolio Guarantee, a facility of RM50 million shall be made available to the SMEs in the first tranche and eventually up to RM300 million in subsequent tranches.The portfolio Guarantee, aterm loan facility offers a loan range of between RM100,000 to RM500,00 and is designed with the primary objective of providing working capital and asset acquisitionto SMEs.

Lucky Petronas Customers Win BMW Cars and Grand Stand Tickets to F1 Grand Prix.


Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB),the retail arm of Petronas has rewarded two lucky finale out of its 194 winners of the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix Fever Promotion with two BMW cars at Petronas F1 Grand Prix Exhibition KLCC recently.The two lucky grand prize winners,Mr Selvamuthu Ramu,a 46 years old security manager from Seremban,Negeri Sembilan and Mrs Norazah Ahmad,a 41 years old teacher from Kepala Batas ,Pulau Pinang drove away a brand new BMW 525i Sports car worth RM391,221.00 each.The two also received a pair of Diamond Grand Stand tickets worth RM5,000 each.The remaining 386 Diamond Grand Stand tickets went to the other 192 lucky customers.


BMW Sauber drivers,Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld, together PDB's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mr Mohd Sabaruddin Mohd Amin ,gave away the prizes to the winners in a presentation ceremony held at the Petronas Malaysian F1 Grand Prix exibition at Suria KLCC in Kuala Lumpur.

The Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix Fever Promotion,which ran from 1 February 2009 through 22 March 2009 and only required customers to make a minimum purchase of RM20.00 in a single transaction at any Petronas station or Kedai Mesra was organised to reward customers for their continued support for Petronas.Meanwhile the Petronas Malaysian F1 Grand Prix exhibition which runs until 5 April will features engaging public activities such as the Petronas Primax 3 Refuelling Challenge to familiarise Malaysians with the quality and properties of Petronas' high performance fuel and other products.
