Honda Malaysia's "Challenging Spirit" Continues at MME 2008




Honda Malaysia recently introduced a fully local Honda Malaysia Racing Team (HMRT) with 40 Malaysians and their locally-built Civic Type R race cars numbers 26 and 27 at Borneo Baruk Club,Kuala Lumpur.At the event were 40 HMRT members and 6 Malaysian drivers all set to carry on Honda's trademark "Challenging Spirit" onto the 2008 Merdeka Millennium Endurance (MME) Race at Sepang race tracks.Their aim is to capture the Overall Tittle in addition to retaining their Class A for the 6th consecutive year.Speaking at the party ,HMRT Team Principal Mr.Atsushi Fujimoto ,who is also Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer said,"MME 2008 marks another important milestone for the Honda Malaysia Racing Team as we are very proud to note that this year both the Civic Type R Car 26 and 27 has been independently built an all Malaysian HMRT team.Through out the whole process,HMRT 2008 greatest challenge was to achieve local competency. In order to achieve this and to continue building up local talents, 7 members from last year returned to HMRT to lead the different divisions and transfer their skills and knowledge to the other HMRT members this year.HMRT has also brought in two new drivers ,a 24- years old Victor Cheong and 35-years old Faisal Asri to team up with the four returning drivers namely ,Eddie Lew Kar Wai,Rueben Wong,Fahrizal Hasan and Aoran Lim.



One of the new drivers for HMRT,Victor Cheong who will be driving Car 27, commented The biggest challenge for this year is having more competitors and competitive cars in the race but with Honda's Challenging Spirit they are highly motivated to rise above the challenge and do their best in the race. Meanwhile, Returning driver for Car 26,Fahrizal Hasan said This year their strong teamwork in HMRT will be their winning formula in the race.During the event,the media and guests also shared some of the excitement by taking part in Pit Stop Challenge.
