In a bid to generate awareness and raise charity funds for the National Stroke Association of Malaysia (NASAM),Guardian a renowned leading health,beauty and personal care chain in Malaysia,organised a charity walkathon on Saturday,April 26 at Sunway Lagoon Theme Park.The 3 km walk was flagged off by the Selangor State Health Department Deputy Director, Dr Rahimah Mohd Ariffin and Guardian's Chief Operating Officer,Ms Loi Liang Tok from the Sunway Lagoon Auditorium at 9 am.The walkathon is aimed to highlight the importance of a healthy and balanced lifestyle in addition to raising funds for a worthy cause and the number of participants for this year has increased to more than1500 compared to last year as more Malaysians are taking their healths seriously.A special route was made available for the NASAM stroke es to ensure that they too can be part of the event.The walkathon has raised funds to support NASAM's programs for stroke patients and their families for the past four years. For this year,RM12,000 has been raised , bringing Guardian's total contribution to NASAM amounted RM50,000 over a period of four years.In her speech, Ms Loi Liang Tok said Guardian are committed and thrilled to host this event every year and they pledge to raise funds every year for worthy cause.In line with their theme"A Thousand Miles Begins With The First Step".She added, their eagerness in organising this walkaton is to raise funds for NASAM , which in turn it will be used to help stroke survivors.A host of fun family activities such as Acrobatics from China,antics of a balloon sculpting clown,face painters was installed for the participants during the event and the appearance of Guardian brand Ambassadors and 3R TV program hosts; Rafidah,Kartini and Celina also increased the excitement .Prizes amounting to more than RM3000 and cash vouchers was also given away to the walkathon winners and lucky participants.
