UMW Toyota Motor:Revolutionised Toyota Corolla Altis

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT),the assembler and distributor of Toyota vehicles in Malaysia has recently launched its 10 generation Corolla,the all-new Toyota Corolla Altis.Officiating the launch are Mr Kuah Kock Heng,Managing Director of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd,Mr Yasuo Kamata,Assistant Chief Engineer,Toyota Motor Corporation,Tn Hj. Aminar Rashid Salleh,Executive Director UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd and Mr Masanori Hirano,Vice President Toyota Motor Asia Pasific.Since it's first introduction in 1966 the Toyota Corolla has undergone nine model changes and been known to be one of the world best selling model lines with over 30 millions units sold in more than 140 countries.A total of 30,787 sales was recorded for Toyota Corolla Altis from 2001 when it first made it's debut in the Malaysian market to 2007 and a 800 units per month sales has been targeted for the new Altis in Malaysia. The 10th generation Corolla model marked a bolder,stylish and luxury in appearance as the overall length is longer by 10mm and the width is 55mm wider (enhancing cabin spaciousness)while the overall height is reduced by15mm(making it sportier).On the performance wise the new model comes with a choice of either 1.8 or 1.6 litres DOHC 16-valve engine that features the Toyota's advanced VVT-i(Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) with Maximum power:80kW/109ps-97kW/132ps at 6000rpm and Maximum torque:145Nm at 4,400rpm to 170Nm at 4200rpm.In addition all versions of all new Altis comes with 4-speed electronically managed automatic transmission which has the Toyota Super ECT(intelligent programming which optimises gear selection).The new Altis also offers with bigger storage,high safety standard such as ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution) and BA (Brake Assist).It also has VSC (Vehicle Stability Control),TRC(Traction Control),WIL (Whiplash Injury Lessening) Seats,Dual Front SRS Airbags and Pretensioner and force limiter seat belt.The all-new Toyota Corolla Altis are imported from Thailand in (CBU) form comes in five variants;1.8G Sporty,1.8G,1.8E Sporty,1.8E and 1.6E with 5 choice of colors.Price ranges from RM102,900 to RM117,900.For
