Gakeri Petronas Launched "Celebrate Malaysia" Art Exhibitions
Galeri Petronas has recently launched its "Celebrate Malaysia" featuring two new art exhibitions namely, Young Malaysian Artists: New Objec(tion) and Word+Pictures+Book at Galeri Petronas, 3rd Floor Suria KLCC .
New Objec(tion) exhibition highlights radical new concept of Malaysian art, as 40 of the new artworks was creatively produced by 40 young artists aged between 25 to 45 years old. These artworks introduce free-for-all, no-holds-barred exhibition which exudes traditional aesthetics through methodology and philsophical concerns in response to the world around them. The participating artists were also allowed to explore their true creative inclinations in the hope of unearthing their true great talent and its contributions to the diversity of Malaysian art.
The Words+Pictures=Book exhibition on the other hand offers the Malaysian public an insight into the world of children's picture book illustration through a fascinating exploration which takes viewers into a dynamic, dreamlike and engaging environment with 10 uniquely Malaysian tales told in different styles. As an addition, this new exhibition also serves to elevate the status of Malaysian picture book illustration to a serious art form and set-up as a platform to inspire new breed of young illustrators.
Officiating the launch of new artworks, by YBhg Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, who voiced,"Young Malaysian Artists-New Objec(tion) is a brash and edgy exhibition of new voices, while Words+Picture=Book is the first ever exhibition on the contemporary Malaysian picture book illustrations, a true milestone in our ever-evolving art landscape". Also present at the event were, Mr. Mohammad Medan Abdullah, Senior General Manager, Corporate Services Division, Petronas and Director of Galeri Petronas, Puan Hajjah Hartini Haji Abdullah.The "Celebrate Malaysia" exhibitions will run until 3rd October 2010 and admission is free.
